JACKSON – The return to the field has been an impressive one for many girls’ soccer teams this spring after the 2020 season was canceled.

Many athletes across Michigan entered the game on their triumphant return and displayed their talents on the local soccer fields. The Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association released its all-state picks for the 2021 season and seven athletes from the Jackson area were named to their respective division’s honorary team.

Below are the seven Jackson area girls soccer players selected to join the MiHSSCA All-State Team.

Kendall Robertson, Parma Western

The Panthers senior goalkeeper was named a first-team All-State in Division 2 after helping her team a 9-4-2 overall record and a 6-2-1 mark in the Interstate Eight Conference that regular season would have. The talented dual athlete split the time between the soccer field and the track for westerns this spring, but helped the Panther girls soccer team claim five shutout wins.

Madi Barnes, Parma Western

The senior striker was named the third team all-state in Division 2 after scoring 17 goals in the regular season.

Ryann Overweg, Springport

The Spartans Junior Outstanding was named the All-State Honorable Mention in Division 3 after scoring 25 goals and 12 assists in the regular season to date, including two 6-goal games against Michigan Center and Jackson Christian.

Anna Doane, Jackson Lumen Christi

The Titans senior defender was elected first team All-State in Division 4 after three goals and helped anchor a defensive unit that recorded seven shutouts in the Interstate Eight Conference game.

Khiya Hunt, Jackson Lumen Christi

The Titans sophomore midfielder was named second team All-State in Division 4 after scoring 10 goals and adding five assists during the regular season to bolster Lumen Christi’s attack.

Isabel Ermatinger, Jackson Lumen Christi

The Titans freshman keeper was named the All-State Honorable Mention in Division 4 after recording seven shutout wins online during the regular season, while averaging eight saves per game.

Mary Sangster, Manchester

The Flying Dutch sophomore striker was named Honorable All-State Mention in Division 4 after scoring 27 goals and adding 12 assists to the Manchester attack typically with a 14-0 overall record during the regular season to reinforce.
