A look at some of the outstanding performances over the past week, as well as high school softball and girls’ soccer in counties Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln.

“Start nine”

Payton Baker, East Lincoln: Allowed only two runs in their last four starts with five hits, and threw a no-hitter with six innings in their team’s first-round playoff win against Mountain Heritage on May 5th. During that time she hit 26 and passed two.

Alexandra Bell, Berginsel Charter: Allowed one hit and scored 13 hits in five innings in their team’s 15-0 win over Community School of Davidson. She would add eight circle strikeouts in four innings days later to beat the Spartans 18-1.

Braley Hamilton, Stuart Cramer: Was 2v3 with two RBIs in the first of two games against Hunter Huss. In the nightcap she was 2-2 with two runs in a 12-2 win over the Huskies. She would then go 2-3 with two runs scored in a 10-0 win over Forestview.

Chloe Hatzopoulos, Mountain Island Charter: Has hit 11 of their last 15 bats, eight of which are targeting additional bases – including two home runs. She has 17 RBIs in that period.

Brooklin Heavner, Shelby: Was 3v3 with two doubles and one triplet plus an RBI and three runs that came in a 10-0 win over South Point. She also hit 12 in a winning effort.

Katie Hogue, East Lincoln: Was 2-3 with a double and a home run in an 11-0 win over Lake Norman Charter. She followed with a 2-3 with an RBI and three runs scored in a 15-0 win over Lake Norman Charter. She followed suit by going 3 on 4 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Sarah Terrell, Lincoln Charter: Was 5v5 with a doubles, triples, an RBI, and three runs scored in a 13-12 loss to Pine Lake Prep. She would follow suit later in the week by going 3v3 with four RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-2 win over Piedmont Community Charter.

Taliyah Thomas, East Lincoln: Was 3v3 with a home run, RBI, and two runs in an 11-0 win over Lake Norman Charter. She followed with a 3v4 win with two home runs – a Grand Slam – and five RBIs, plus three runs scored in a 15-0 win over Lake Norman Charter. At the playoff start of her team, she was 3: 4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. She would add a double with the seventh inning and Thursday’s game-winning run against Oak Grove.

Megan Towery, North Gaston: Score a Grand Slam if your team beats Ashbrook before losing a triple home run and three RBIs to East Gaston.

Caroline Allred, North Gaston: Was 4 on 4 with an RBI in their team’s loss to East Gaston.

Kaitlin Barnes, Forest View: Was 2v3 with a doubles, a home run and three RBIs in a win over Kings Mountain.

Payton Conroy, Stuart Cramer: Was 2v2 with a home run and two RBIs in beating Hunter Huss last week. It would add two hits to a 10-0 win over Forestview.

Emma Downey, Piedmont Community Charter: Was 3v3 with a triple and home run, four RBIs, and two runs in a 13-2 win over Community Christian Academy.

Grace East, Piedmont Community Charter: Ten hits were scored in four innings of work, allowing for two runs with one hit in a 13-2 win over Community Christian Academy. She also had a solo home run in victory.

Carolina Grajales, Shelby: Was 4v4 with a doubles, three RBIs, and a run scored in a win over South Point.

Abigale Harris, Community Charter of Piedmont: Was 3v4 with two doubles, two RBIs, and two runs in a 13-2 win over Community Christian Academy.

Mackenzie Hayes, coat of arms: In the 1-0 win over Kings Mountain 15 goals were scored.

Rileigh Kiser, Cherryville: Was 3v5 with two RBIs in a win over the Piedmont Community Charter.

Skyla Morrison, North Lincoln: Was 2-3 with a home run and an RBI in a 5-3 loss to Newton-Conover.

Reagan Nowoweicki, Cherryville: 16 hits in a victory over the Piedmont Community Charter.

Maggie Pannone, Lincoln Charter: Scored two home runs and took five runs in her team’s 14-2 win over the Piedmont Community Charter.

Alayna Patrick, Kings Mountain: Was 2-4 with an RBI in a 10-9 win against Forestview.

Yahreia Peeler, Shelby: Was 3v4 with a doubles, two RBIs, and two runs scored in a 10-0 win over South Point.

Leeza Rhyne, North Gaston: Was 2v2 with three runs scored in a win over Ashbrook.

Blair Riley, Forestview: Was 3v3 with two runs in a 10-9 loss to Kings Mountain.

Anna Grace Terrell, Lincoln Charter: Was scored 3-on-5 with a doubles, RBI, and three runs in a 13-12 loss to Pine Lake Prep.

Sara Rose Warlick, coat of arms: Scored a home run in their team’s 9-1 loss to West Rowan.

Kali Weaver, Kings Mountain: Was 3v5 with a double and three RBIs in a win over Forestview.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Bella Biondi, Lincoln Charter: Scored two goals in her team’s first-round playoff win against Highlands.

Lexi Birtwistle, South Point: Had one goal and one assist in a 9-0 win over CHASE.

Riley Conrad, Highland Tech: Scored two goals and assisted another in a 7-1 win over Cherryville.

Avery Davis, Highland Tech: Had four goals in a 7-1 win over Cherryville.

Abbie Hege, East Lincoln: Scored one goal and helped another in their team’s win over West Lincoln.

Ginny Hughes, East Lincoln: Scored a goal and added an assist in an 8-0 win over Newton-Conover.

Emme Lewandowski, South Point: Had one goal and helped another in their team’s 9-0 win over CHASE.

Emma Lohri, Lincoln Charter: Got one goal and one support in a 4-2 defeat at Christ the King.

Reagan Luckadoo, East Gaston: Scored one goal and assisted another in a 7-0 win over East Rutherford.

Abbey Martin, South Point: Scored two goals in a 9-0 win over CHASE.

Anastazia Rodriguez, North Gaston: Had one goal and two assists in a 4-3 win over Ashbrook.

Madison Setzer, coat of arms: Scored four goals and helped in the 7-1 win over Kings Mountain.

Maddie Somers, East Gaston: Scored one goal and assisted another in the 8-1 win over North Gaston.

Lauren Robinson, East Lincoln: Had one goal and one assist in an 8-0 win over Newton-Conover.

Grace Smith, South Point: Scored three goals and assisted another in an 8-0 win over Shelby. She followed with another hat trick in the 9-0 win against CHASE and goals in playoff wins against Central Davidson and Fred T. Foard.

Ava Stillwell, East Gaston: Had three goals in an 8-1 win over North Gaston. She added a goal in a win over East Rutherford,

Skylar Tomlin, North Gaston: Scored one goal and assisted another in beating Ashbrook 4-3.

Brooke Villemagne, South Point: Scored two goals in an 8-0 win over Shelby. She added one goal and two assists in a 9-0 win over CHASE.

Jordan Villemagne, south point: Scored one goal and assisted two more in an 8-0 win over Shelby. She added one goal and two assists in a 9-0 win over CHASE and scored another goal in the Lady Raiders’ playoff win over Central Davidson.

Cadence Walker, coat of arms: Scored two goals and assisted three more in a 7-1 win over Kings Mountain. She would add three more in a first-round playoff loss to Watauga.

Samantha Whitaker, Lincoln: Scored three goals in their team’s 4-3 loss to North Lincoln. She added a goal and support in her team’s 4-3 loss to Maiden.
