CONWAY, SC – For the sixth time in a row and for the 18th time in the program’s history, the women’s soccer team at Coastal Carolina University was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as the winner of the Team Academic Award for their outstanding academic performance as a team in the 2020/21 academic year.
The Chanticleers were one of 406 college soccer teams to receive the Team Academic Award for 2020-21.
CCU was one of eight Sun Belt Conference women’s soccer programs to receive the honor after achieving a grade point average (GPA) of 3.59.
With the men’s team also receiving the award, the two soccer programs made Coastal Carolina one of only 112 schools in the country to have their men’s and women’s programs recognized.
United Soccer Coaches annually recognizes the academic achievements of college soccer teams, whose student athletes demonstrate their commitment to excellence in their studies together for an entire school year. The award is given to programs with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.
