Just months after a spring season delayed by the pandemic, high school boys soccer is back in the Springfield area.

Here are 10 of the best boys soccer players to see in the area this season, in alphabetical order and broken down into schools large and small.

Big schools

Ian Lamsargis, Springfield High

The junior defender was named to the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association’s all-sectional team because SHS only conceded 15 goals. He also finished with two goals and four assists.

Garrett Slack, Lincoln

The Railsplitters set a team record with 14 wins in the spring when the senior striker set a school record in goals for one season (33) and one career (70). Now he has a chance to break the career record into the triple digits if he is able to repeat last season. He received an Honorable Mention from the IHSSCA All-Sectional as a junior.
