High school football for boys has finally started after being delayed by a few months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The teams held their first practice session a week ago, and the regular season games are just around the corner. The first official events are scheduled for the week of January 25th. With the season in full swing, here are the top five areas where boys are returning high school soccer players.

1. Aldo Montano, East Henderson, Senior: The Eagles’ top scorer finished this season with 25 goals and three assists to bring his career to 93 goals. He has been named to the Mountain Six All-Conference Team and has also received regional awards.

2. Woody Green, West Henderson, Junior: The Falcons’ leading goalscorer in a tough Western Mountain Athletic Conference ended the season with 10 goals and 4 assists out of a total of 33 goals for the team.

3. Thomas Lynn, West Henderson, Sr.: The Falcons’ starting goalkeeper ended the season with 111 saves to get a place on the All-Western Mountain Athletic Conference team.

4. Luke Matteson, Hendersonville, Sr.: Hendersonville’s midfielders and goalkeepers led the team into the playoffs with his goal defense. He was an all-conference pick and scored three goals in midfield in his limited time.

5. Levi Hord, Hendersonville, Sr.: Hord, the Bearcats’ starting striker, was one of the leaders of the offensive. He finished last season with 13 goals and ended with a total of 26 points.
