Chicago (WLS) – Young college students and soccer players must learn to walk again after being shot while carpooling.

Dad lives for football. His dream of becoming a professional took him halfway around the world, from Sengal to Chicago.

“I miss that inside,” he said. “I woke up every day and went to training. One day I saw him turn pro and collapse on May 28th. “

On Friday, Memorial Day weekend, dad said he activated his Lyft app to drive for hours in order to make some cash on a family visit to Africa. Daddy said he picked up passengers at County Club Hills in the southern suburbs, but something went wrong about 30 minutes after boarding.

“He told me to stay straight and I held it straight and we got to the intersection,” Daddy recalled. “He asked me to do a U-turn.”

In the back seat, he said the passengers were angry and hot.

“I told him, ‘Get my car and call another Lyft.’ When he was gone, he shot me, ”he said. Rice field. “I haven’t seen him at all. I remember that I could no longer feel my feet. “

My father came into mind about professional football and family dreams.

“When I was in the ambulance, I started asking questions, ‘Am I going to die tonight?’ He said.

He is not dead. Chicago State University soccer players spent six weeks in the hospital and a few more weeks in rehab. He tries to learn to walk again two or three times a week. But for some reason he’s not angry.

“Yeah, it’s really hard. It is not easy. You have to fight your way through, “said Papa. “I used to get out of bed and do everything myself, but now I have to call my mother to help me get in and out.”

The Hills Country Club Police are still investigating the ridesharing shootings. Daddy knows the name of the passenger who shot him, but he’s still there and it’s free.
