CHARLOTTE, NC – Gardner-Webb Men’s Soccer had four members on the program to join the Big South All conference team, the conference office announced this afternoon.
Abel Gebrekiros and Samuel Catherall were both appointed to the all-conference of the second team, Sebastian Reventlow to the all-freshman team and Cole Sanfilippo to the all-academic team.
Abel Gebrekiros – All-Conference of the second team
Gebrekiros started in 10 of 11 games he played this season. The senior forward scored a total of 12 points this season from four goals and four assists, two of which were winning goals against Longwood and Winthrop. This season Gebrekiros has been named Big South Offensive Player of the Week twice for his role in victories against VMI (2 goals) and Longwood (game to win target).
Samuel Catherall – Second Team All conference
Gardner-Webb Catherall has played in all eleven games he has played this season. Catherall played a key role in the shutout wins against VMI, Furman and Winthrop that season. Catherall was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week for his role in the VMI shutout.
Sebastian Reventlow – All freshman team
The new midfielder started 8 of 9 games this season, which corresponds to a total of 758 minutes of playing time. Reventlow’s first career goal was the match against Furman, which gave them the lead, which led to a win for Gardner-Webb. Reventlow was named Big South Freshman of the Week for his first career goal in the match against Furman.
Cole Sanfilippo – All academic team
The senior defender started all eleven games and has a total of 984 minutes on the pitch this season. Sanfilippo played a key role in the program’s five wins that season against VMI, Furman, Longwood, Presbyterian and Winthrop. At the same time, he helps the team with three exclusions over the course of the spring season.
