KALAMAZOO, MI – It takes 11 players working together for a soccer team to be successful, but to reach the conference, district, or regional championship territory, each team needs a differentiator or two.

The Kalamazoo area has not been lacking in formidable soccer players, as 27 local athletes have been named to the all-state teams of Divisions 1, 2, 3, and 4 by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Richland Gull Lake Junior Mackenzie Ford picked up the region’s top honors for her Division 2 First Team selection, while Holly Curtiss from Allegan, Rylie Henckel from Otsego, Hannah Thompson from Schoolcraft, Katey Reasoner from Kalamazoo Hackett and Taylor Leonard von Kalamazoo Christian in their respective departments.

The four all-staters from Gull Lake made the most of any team from the Kalamazoo area.
