The 2021 Kentucky Soccer ‘Cats got off to a good start ahead of the new season.

On Wednesday before, Conference-USA announced that two members of the British football team, Midfielder Marcel Meinzer and goalkeeper Enrique Facusse, were assigned to the C-USA Men’s Soccer Preseason Team. Additionally, Kentucky was named runner-up in the conference behind reigning conference champion Marshall.

Both Meinzer and Facusse were called up to the 2019 C-USA second team before showing solid performances in the shortened 2020 season, in which Kentucky only played six games but finished with a third place finish and a five-game winning streak. Born in Germany, Meinzer started five out of six games a season ago, while Facusse from Honduras started three games for the ‘Cats in 2020.
