National women soccer stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris announced that they have adopted a baby girl named Sloane.

On Monday, Krieger shared the news of the couple’s growing family on Instagram, where she posted three photos of herself and her wife Harris holding the newborn and bringing her home from the hospital.

In the caption, the 36-year-old revealed that Sloane was born on February 12, before sharing an emotional statement about the baby’s birth mother.

She wrote, “Dear Birth Mother … Our Promise to You: We promise that Sloane will be loved every day by us, our friends and family. We promise to give her the tools to live a happy, prosperous life full of inclusiveness and support.

“We promise to share her adoption story with her from the start and celebrate every milestone! We promise to encourage them to follow their dreams, no matter how big or small. “

Krieger then spoke directly to Sloane and Harris and wrote, “Welcome to our family, Sloane Phillips … we’re so in love with you already! This has been one of the most beautiful, stressful processes I’ve ever experienced with you, @ ashlynharris24, and I love you even more on this journey, if that’s even possible.

“When we first met, we always talked about adoption and always wanted to give a child a loving, happy and stable home. I can’t wait to give her the world and be the best mother I can have by my side with you. “

She also shared a post on Harris’ Instagram dedicated to the couple’s latest addition. There she made the same promise to her daughter’s birth mother before declaring that her heart “explodes with joy”.

“All the ups and downs, tears, stress and fears were worth having this beautiful blessing in our arms,” wrote Harris in a portion of the caption dedicated to her wife. “We build what we have always dreamed of. You two are my everything and I promise you both to always do the right thing. I love you so much.”

The soccer star also thanked her “wonderful family, friends, agency, teammates and coaches” for the support she and Krieger received during the adoption process.

Harris then dedicated a portion of the post to other families of adopted children, recognizing how difficult the process can be.

“Wow, see you. Phew, that was a very stressful process. I hope one day I can tell our story, but now … we can breathe again, ”she wrote.

The news of the couple’s first child sparked a ton of supportive messages, with team members and fans sharing their congratulations.

“My heart. I love you all three so much and I say hello to mommies! You are here now,” wrote soccer player Sydney Leroux, while Kealia Watt commented: “Omg. Congratulations, I’m really looking forward to seeing you.”

Megan Rapinoe also shared her good wishes, writing: “Sissies are so proud of you and happy for you. Your family is so beautiful. “
